Confident Rider Program

This horse and rider training program reflects HFA's owner and head trainer, Allison's kind and patient training methods.  Integrating basic Dressage techniques in all disciplines, Allison ensures that the riders become a team with their horse.  Her students become confident, competent riders, with the assurance and skills to succeed.

Basic Horsemanship (Ages 6 & up)

Basic Horsemanship is for beginners who would like to learn about the world of horses. Students will be taught the basics from the ground up in a small group setting. HFA believes that this basic knowledge is essential to ensure the complete understanding and safety necessary prior to mounting a horse. Riding lessons

are the foundation of our educational programs at HFA. We offer classes in dressage, hunt seat/jumping, and western styles. Lessons are offered in the following formats for both children and adults:

·                        Semi-privates -- (60 minutes).

·                        Privates -- one student (30 minutes or 60 minutes or 90 minutes).

The Horsemanship Class . . . is required for all HFA students, regardless of their previous experience. We believe that all students should know--and practice--standard safety rules for working around horses, which includes how to approach and halter a horse in the stall as well as how to lead, groom, saddle and bridle a horse.

Our Special Programs . . . provide opportunities for our students to participate in educational or social clubs, specialized training programs and riding camps.

Real Party Animal Birthday Parties. Celebrate your birthday at HFA with real, live party animals -- horses, of course! Our birthday parties are offered on Sundays from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. and include festive decorations, a riding lesson and a horsemanship lesson.

Horse Merit Badge. Earn Your "Horse Lovers" Merit Badge at HFA with our two-hour lesson and hands-on horsemanship class.

Our Sales Program . . . is designed to provide professional advise to students who are interested in buying a horse. Many of our school horses are for sale or we can scout for the right horse to fit riding goals and budgets. Buying a horse is a serious investment --let our trainers help you make an informed decision.

Class levels . . . provide a sequential order of riding classes based on our systematic approach to teaching riding. As our students achieve the skills required for each level, they progress from one class to the next in their chosen discipline.

Students who are not experienced riders usually start with the Beginning Sequence of classes (Introduction to Riding, Beginning and Advanced Beginning classes). Students may ride Western or English style in these classes. After achieving Advanced Beginner skills, students then choose which discipline of riding to pursue--Hunt Seat, Dressage or Western--and follow the sequence of classes for that discipline. Advanced level classes usually include Show Preparation for students who are serious about participating in AHSA rated horse shows.*Note: All lessons expire 60 days from date of purchase. Prices are subject to change. Please contact our office for the most current prices and schedules.
